Press Release 1

A pressing need to support VET educators to promote entrepreneurship education across Europe to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In little over one year, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the shape of the world we once knew. With Governments across the world scrambling to make daily decisions that would impact upon all of our lives, society has been forced to transform itself overnight. Jobs have been forced to reshape themselves and transform in line with these decisions, with an emphasis being placed on digital technologies and entrepreneurial endeavours to overcome this pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the growing concern for improving how we work, and how we learn. In order to stay up to date with the transformations in the labour market, learning institutions need to provide learners with the necessary entrepreneurial competencies in order to survive in this ever-changing economic landscape. Learners need to be provided with the key digital and entrepreneurial competences in order to survive this cutthroat economic situation.

To combat these challenges, the VETENTRE project is an innovative and exciting Erasmus+ project which aims to improve the attractiveness and quality of Vocational Education and Training (VET) across Europe. VETENTRE will provide VET educators and professionals with the capabilities to engage in meaningful learning with their students, in order to prepare them for this changing world of work. VETENTRE will combine the EntreComp and DigCompEdu frameworks to provide learners with resources aimed at improving both their digital and entrepreneurial competences.

Over the next two years, partners across Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Spain will provide VET institutions with an innovative set of tools and resources that will empower VET trainers and educators to nurture the entrepreneurial mindset of their learners. VETENTRE will provide VET professionals with four main resources including;

  1. an entrepreneurial toolkit for VET tutors;
  2. an exciting online gamified learning space which will teach VET professionals to teach entrepreneurial skills;
  3. Digital and Entrepreneurship curricula; and finally
  4. recommendations for policy improvements based on our collective experience.

All of these resources will be freely available from Autumn 2022 through our website: http://vetentre.eu/
